AK03-02 · 5 MIN · M03 MEASURING THE ROOM · LESSON 2 OF 5
Walls are never straight
Chapters
In short
- 01The angle between two walls is rarely exactly square. Measure it with an angle finder in every corner that will take cabinets.
- 02One degree out gives a gap of about 17 mm per metre of length. On a 3 m run that is about 5 cm.
- 03Check how flat a wall is with a long straightedge, horizontally and vertically. Note any bulge or lean on the sketch, with its position.
- 04A floor is rarely level. Base units are levelled from the highest point of the floor, and at lower points the legs are wound out further.
- 05The design never runs tight to the wall. A filler closes the gap at the wall, and it is scribed to the shape of the wall on site.
