Chapters

In short

  1. 01For measuring you need a laser distance meter, a tape measure, a spirit level and an angle finder. Along with them you need a sketch and photos.
  2. 02Write every measurement in millimetres, with no centimetres and no rounding.
  3. 03Always measure in the same order. That is the sketch, the wall lengths and the height, the diagonals, the openings and finally the services.
  4. 04Label the walls A, B, C and D. Measure each wall from its left corner, looking at the wall.
  5. 05Measure the length of a wall at three heights and use the smallest one for the design. Measure the room height at several points.
  6. 06In a rectangular room the two diagonals are equal. You can also check a right angle with the 3-4-5 rule, using 600, 800 and 1000 mm.
