Handles, gola and push-to-open
Chapters
In short
- 01A bar handle has two holes. The hole spacing is the size of the handle, most often a multiple of 32 mm, e.g. 96, 128 or 160 mm.
- 02The handle screw must be longer than the front is thick. For an 18 mm front it is usually M4 × 25.
- 03On base units the handle is near the top edge of the door, and on wall units near the bottom edge, so both are close to the worktop.
- 04When the holes are in the same places on all doors, the handles line up across the whole kitchen.
- 05A gola profile is a channel in the carcass for your fingers. The fronts have no handles, and the profile and the shorter fronts are decided in the design, before cutting.
- 06With push to open, every front has a push latch. Fronts can also open by accident, and they usually go with hinges without soft close.
