Hinges
Chapters
In short
- 01A hinge has three parts. The cup goes into the door, the arm carries and turns the door, and the mounting plate sits on the side panel.
- 02The hole for the cup is 35 mm in diameter and about 13 mm deep, in the inner face of the door.
- 03The cup distance (K) is the distance from the door edge to the centre of the cup. Together with the mounting plate it sets how much the door covers the side panel.
- 04The hinge is chosen by the door. Full overlay doors cover the side panel, half overlay doors share a middle side panel, and inset doors sit inside the carcass.
- 05The usual opening angle is about 110°. There is a wider angle for corner units and for drawers behind doors.
- 06The number of hinges depends on the height and weight of the door. By height, that is 2 up to 900 mm, 3 up to 1600 mm, 4 up to 2000 mm and 5 above that.
- 07A hinge adjusts in three directions. These are sideways, in depth and in height, and all the hinges of one door are adjusted the same way.
