Decors and grain
Chapters
In short
- 01A decor is the look of a board, and it can be plain, wood or a material (concrete, stone, fabric).
- 02A wood decor has a grain running one way. A part has to be cut so that its grain runs as designed, so the cutting list says which side of the part runs along the length of the sheet.
- 03On fronts the grain is most often vertical, or all horizontal. What matters is that it is the same through the whole kitchen.
- 04When drawer fronts one above the other are cut in order from the same board, the pattern flows without a break.
- 05A plain decor has no grain, so a part may be turned on the sheet, which reduces waste. The exception is a surface texture with a direction, so check that in the decor catalogue.
- 06Edge tape is ordered in the same decor as the board, by the manufacturer's decor code.
- 07Always see a decor sample in person, because the colour on a screen is not the same as on the board.
