In short
- 01A visible glue line comes from too much glue, glue that isn't warm enough, weak pressure or an edge that isn't straight.
- 02A straight, clean edge, glue in the colour of the decor and a well set machine reduce the glue line. PUR and laser edging give the thinnest line.
- 03Edge tape comes off when the board or the workshop is too cold, when there is too little glue or the edge is dusty or damp. EVA can give way near steam and heat.
- 04Before banding, boards and edge tape stand in a warm workshop, the edge is clean and dry, and the glue runs at the temperature on its data sheet.
- 05Edge tape shorter than the edge leaves a bare corner of board that takes in moisture and chips. Edge tape is cut with an overhang, and the ends are trimmed only after gluing.
- 06Edge tape that is offset or too narrow leaves a step or part of the edge bare. The overhang is trimmed flush with the face, with no sharp arris and no scratch on the face.
- 07Before a batch, run a test piece and check the glue line, the corners, the ends and the alignment.
