In short
- 01Edge tape seals the edge of a board against moisture, protects it from knocks and gives it the look of the face.
- 02ABS and PVC are plastic edge tapes in a colour or decor, with a primer on the back. After gluing they are trimmed and rounded.
- 03ABS is tough and contains no chlorine. PVC is flexible but contains chlorine, so ABS is often chosen because it is easier to dispose of.
- 04Melamine edging is made of paper soaked in resin. It is thin and cracks easily, so it suits hidden edges, shelves and repairs.
- 05Veneer edging is a thin sheet of real wood for veneered boards. It is sanded and lacquered together with the board.
- 06Edge tape is 0.4 to 2 mm thick or more, and always a little wider than the board is thick. The excess is trimmed off afterwards.
- 07Edge tape is sold in rolls, by the metre, and ordered by decor, width and thickness, pre-glued or without glue.
