In short

  1. 01Edge tape goes on the edges that are seen and touched. Look at a cabinet from where people look at it, and a wall unit is seen from below.
  2. 02The carcass gets edge tape on its front edges, usually thin, because the front covers it. In EFS the default for the carcass is 0.4 mm.
  3. 03Where there is no front, as with open shelves and the end side panel of a run, the carcass edge is on show like a front.
  4. 04Fronts get edge tape on all four edges, usually 2 mm, because they are touched and knocked. Edge tape that thick can be rounded.
  5. 05All the edges of one front have edge tape of the same thickness, so the front looks the same all round.
  6. 06Edges by the wall, under the worktop and at the back are not seen, so they need no edge tape. Edge tape added or removed changes the cut size.
  7. 07Band the edges near water, in the sink unit and by a floor that gets mopped, even when they are not seen.
