One cabinet from measuring to fitting
Chapters
In short
- 01Every cabinet goes the same way. Measuring, design, cutting list, cutting, edge banding, drilling, assembly and installation.
- 02Measuring comes before design. Walls, openings and services are measured, because walls are rarely straight or square.
- 03The design sets every size of the cabinet. The cutting list comes from it.
- 04For every part, the cutting list gives the cut size, the edge tape and the grain direction.
- 05Boards are cut to the cutting list. The cut size is the finished size minus the edge tape thickness.
- 06Edge tape goes on the visible edges after cutting, and before drilling and assembly.
- 07Holes for joints and hardware are drilled from a drawing or on a CNC machine.
- 08The cabinet is assembled in the workshop, and on site it is levelled and joined to the other cabinets.
- 09A mistake from an earlier step only shows in a later one. That is why the sizes are checked at the start.
